Blue & Joy

Blue & Joy is an Italian artist duo, consisting of Fabio La Fauci (born 1977 in Milan) and Daniele Sigalot (born 1976 in Rome).

The central idea behind their works revolves around two figures – Blue and Joy. Both are characterized by a deliberate contrast between outward appearance and inner emotional state:
Blue often carries a tear or a broken heart, appearing sad – yet paradoxically showing great joy within. Joy, on the other hand, appears cheerful with a broad smile and open arms, but deep inside is sad and melancholic.

Their art is marked by pop-like irony, emotional depth, and a playful reflection on advertising, consumerism, and emotional contradictions. Both previously worked in the advertising industry – their characters and art emerged as a counter-design to exaggerated, “sunshiney” advertising messages.
Their works include comics, graphics, installations, sculptures, mosaics, and spray paintings – often on a large scale, varied in materials and media.
