Cara Santa Lucia at Officina Leo Van Moric, Parma, Italy

Cara Santa Lucia
Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 11 December 2022
5 - 8 pm

Officia Leo Van Moric
Viale Gramsci 17/E- Parma

(ITALIAN VERSION BELOW)

On these two dates, we will present, in cooperation with the Association Serpaglio Lichtenberg from Bedonia (PR), works of art for affordable prices and as an option for a gift under the Christmas tree.

The evening will be accompanied by a friendly game of Natalino.
Bring along a recycled object from your home that you no longer need or no longer like, but neatly wrapped as a Christmas present. Through a quiz of Art and Music questions we will exchange these wonders among ourselves and ensure great fun.

The 'Cara Santa Lucia' project is the brainchild of a German-Italian couple who were already gallery owners in Milan: Bianca Maria Rizzi and Matthias Ritter. And from their meeting with Virginio Mori, a multi-faceted person linked to the world of IT and a great art lover.

Matthias and Bianca Maria's shared story began in southern India back in 1995, where they met during a holiday and have not been apart since.

She with a background as a goldsmith and jewellery designer and he as a photographer and geologist, they embarked on a career as contemporary art gallery owners in the great Milan of the early 2000s, gathering the best and youngest instances from the Germanic and Italian contemporary world and in particular acting as talent scouts for numerous artists now internationally renowned such as Jens Lorenzen and Kinki Texas.

In 2010, they adopted two children from Ukraine and in 2019, after almost 15 years in a gallery in Milan, they decided to move to the Apennines, to Bedonia, the birthplace of Bianca's grandfather. In 2021 they take action to bring a little artistic movement to the Val Taro and conceive a first festival that, like the couple has a bi-national name: Arte Kunst Val Taro. The intention is to bring high-level tourism to the valley, exploiting the presence of numerous vacant shops in the villages and transforming them into art workshops for the festival period.

In the same year, they got to know Virginio Mori through Bianca's brother, Piero Rizzi Bianchi, and a mutual friend, the Reggio Emilia painter Fabio Iemmi, and they decided to pursue the path of various art forms together, founding together the Associazione Serpaglio Lichtenberg.

This year they won the competition of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Parma for the Festival Arte Kunst Val Taro Plus 2022 with the newly founded association.

They believe that this is the moment to 'storm' Parma, the provincial capital with a funny and ironic exhibition presented by the association, to bring the good name of Bedonia to Parma as well. Here we are!

ITALIAN VERSION

Eccoci qua!

WORLDRECORDS by KAI SCHÄFER

Kunsthaus sans titre
Potsdam, Germany

Opening
27 August 2022 at 6 p.m.

Exhibition period
28 August - 18 September 2022

Opening hours
Wednesday - Sunday 2 - 6 p.m.

WORLDRECORDS are the greatest albums in music history highlighted: on record players that partly became legendary too.

WORLDRECORDS is meant to be a tribute to analogue acoustic art, a homage to the warmest, perhaps most sensitive type of sound carrier. In a way – and that makes the photo series so special – it is also a private time machine to the spectator: music as an impulse to remember bits and pieces of one's personal history, a release of former thoughts and feelings. The soundtrack of your life.

From a formal point of view, the precise approach down to the last detail finds its ideal expression in large format. Each groove, each label notice, each tone arm component is oversized and thus nearly tangible. The special light Kai Schäfer has developed for WORLDRECORDS contributes a great deal to make these effects real.

The photo series the artist started with in 2010, today includes around 100 pictures. At the beginning of the series "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list selected by the "Rolling Stone Magazine" helped Schäfer choosing the most adequate titles. Later on, he went on by himself to add albums that in his opinion should take part of his Worldrecords.

The work on this series allowed him to meet and collaborate with various musicians such as Lou Reed, Neil Diamond, The B-52`s, Joy Division, Motörhead, Metallica and numerous German Top Acts as Kraftwerk, Die Fantastischen Vier, Herbert Grönemeyer, CRO, Die Fehlfarben, BAP, Extrabreit, Die Toten Hosen and many more. In this interview the artist talks about his work and some anecdotes of his career.

c/o ideAle2050 - via Alessandro III 33 - Alessandria

PERCH
É DINA GOLDSTEIN IN ALESSANDRIA?

QUALI E QUANTI I CAPOLAVORI ESPOSTI?

Dina Goldstein - Gods & Princesses in the Taro Valley

Opus in Artem presents

OPUS IN ARTEM IN ITINERE III

Dina Goldstein – Gods & Princesses
Borgo Val di Taro, Via Nazionale 28

The exhibition was organized in close cooperation with the
Municipality of Borgo Val di Taro

Saturday 12 February 2022, at 6.30 p.m., in Via Nazionale 28 in Borgo Val di Taro, the opening of Gods & Princesses, a solo exhibition by Dina Goldstein, an artist born in 1969 in Tel Aviv (Israel), who lives and works in Vancouver (Canada). The exhibition is curated by Bianca Maria Rizzi and Matthias Ritter of "Opus in Artem", and organised in close collaboration with the Municipality of Borgo Val di Taro.

Dina Goldstein creates large-scale tableau photography that combines visually stunning imagery with social critique.  She constructs complex narratives that examine Archetypes within fictional characters to define and contextualize pop culture today. Her work not only carries influential artistic merit, but also serves to be a sociological study, as it questions the artificial values pop culture embeds in our society. Highly controversial, Dina Goldstein’s projects have garnered and continuously creates dialogue internationally within social media platforms, in magazines and newspapers. The work has been subject to many written essays, dissertations, and mentioned in various literature. These projects are studied and taught in art schools, photography programs, Gender and feminist studies.

The exhibition Gods & Princesses in Borgo Val di Taro features works from the series The Fallen Princesses and Gods of Suburbia.

The series Fallen Princesses consists of 10 photographs depicting Disney Princesses and other Fairy Tale characters placed within a modern environment. The work examines elements of the human condition and creates metaphor out of the myths of fairy tales, forcing the viewer to contemplate real life: failed dreams, the fallacy of chasing eternal youth, obesity, Cancer, the extinction of indigenous cultures, pollution, ocean degradation and war. By embracing the textures and colors created by Walt Disney, which built a multi-billion-dollar empire exploiting these fairy tales, the work questions the notion of the idealistic 'Happily Ever After' motif, composed by Disney, and spoon fed to children throughout the world.

With this series Dina Goldstein achieved her international breakthrough in the art market.
The series brought Goldstein numerous TV appearances and contributions and made her famous in a short time.
Watch here a few examples: Fanny Kiefer Show / CTV / Spain Mega TV / CBS ART Canada

The princesses are joined by a selection of works from the 2014 Gods of Suburbia series, which is the third themed series created by Dina Goldstein.

This is Dina Goldstein’s third large-scale project. The work is a visual analysis of religious faith within the context of the modern forces of technology, science, and secularism. Dina utilizes archetypes from within the collective unconscious, and from religious iconography, and places them into contemporary environments. The project challenges the viewer — religious or secular to embark on a journey of self-reflection as they contemplate the relevance of ancient ethics and morals in a society characterized by materialism and consumerism.

Watch here the Making of and behind the scenes-Video and this interview with Dina Goldstein about the series.

It should be noted that the exhibition is part of the Opus in Artem in Itinere exhibition concept, which is inspired by the "Freiraum" initiative already successfully implemented in Germany in the early 1990s, in the period immediately after German reunification, when large unused spaces in East German cities were allocated to cultural and artistic projects: with the consequence, also, of attracting investors and private buyers to the various properties and promoting their reconstruction.

Opus in Artem In Itinere works in a similar way, using temporarily vacant shops and shops to bring international art and culture to various points in the Taro Valley. The project involves using an exhibition space for a maximum of three months, after which the initiative moves to another location in the valley. Evidently, this concept can only work in collaboration with the owners of the exhibition sites, who make them available rent-free, embracing the idea that art can help improve the cultural but also the economic life of the valley's citizens.

In turn, the owner can use both the current exhibition and the related images and promotional material to market his property, which greatly increases the possibility of generating interest in it.

The international art exhibited in the valley attracts professionals and collectors, even from sometimes distant cities such as Milan, Bergamo, Parma, Piacenza, La Spezia and Genoa: qualified people who would probably never have come to our area without this cultural offer. These, in turn, bring business to local shops and restaurants, and return to their towns with positive impressions of the Taro Valley, which they will spread and tell others about, thus creating a virtuous circle effect.

Worldrecords by Kai Schäfer at Masterpiece Art London

Masterpiece Art, London holds the UK debut of esteemed German photo artist Kai Schäfer

The gallery moves into 2022 with an exhibition of the wonderfully nostalgic 'WORLDRECORDS' series

London, December 2021: Masterpiece Art London, in collaboration with Opus in Artem from Bedonia (PR), Italy, present the UK debut of esteemed German artist Kai Schäfer and his wonderfully nostalgic series 'WORLDRECORDS'.

Iconic vinyl harmonises with the beauty of its turntable counterpart, creating visual poetry which evokes the memories & dreams attached to our favourite albums, songs, musicians, and everything personal that they symbolise – all captured through Schäfer’s lens.

In reality, the vinyl & the turntable in unison, create that music which feeds our audible soul.  However, via the works of Schäfer, our soul's multitude of senses are activated instantaneously.  The synergy of associated subconscious memories and feelings makes the rhythm palpable.

On exhibition will be a varied selection true to the notion of WORLDRECORDS, however with an accent on the City of London and its rich, unique musical history. Displayed at Masterpiece Art's Holland Park gallery, an area home to many famous singers, musicians & music producers, the exhibition offers the learned UK audience a first opportunity to connect with this wholly inspirational collection, on home soil.

In anticipation of what would have David Bowie's 75th birthday in January 2022, Schäfer is honouring the 'wild-eyed boy from London' in his hometown, with the release of the iconic album 'Station to Station', written in 1975, as the newest addition to the WORLDRECORDS series.

About Kai Schäfer

A photo artist born in 1969 in Solingen, Germany. Kai created the WORLDRECORDS in 2010 as an ongoing series of highly detailed photography of original vinyl, harmonised on iconic turntables. Offering mutual appreciation for the records as for the turntables - themselves magnificent constructions adopting an architectural role - the inevitable nostalgia is felt by each dedicated music fanatic. WORLDRECORDS strikes a personal chord with every member in its audience. He lives with his partner, an interior architect, and their son in Düsseldorf, Germany.
