Frank Shepard Fairey (born February 15, 1970) is an American contemporary artist, activist and founder of OBEY Clothing who emerged from the skateboarding scene. He fuses political activism with eye-catching images of great impact that challenge societal clichés. Coming from a background influenced by skate culture and the punk scene, Fairey has made a significant contribution to the Street Art movement by encouraging artists to use the urban landscape as a canvas and tool for social criticism and change.
